Today’s Menu

So, Reuben is 8 months/35 weeks old today, and he has been tucking into solid food for 9 weeks now. He has a good appetite and has (so far!) tried everything I’ve offered him. He self-weaned from breast milk before he was 7 months old as he finds food much more interesting and it fills him up.

Today’s Menu:
Breakfast – Wheatabix with milk and banana
Lunch – Sweet potato fingers, sandwich fingers with tuna, grated cheese and avocado, and pear chunks
Snack – Raspberries and rice cakes
Tea – Muesli fingers with blueberries dipped in yogurt and toast fingers with cream cheese
Bedtime – HIPP milk

Plus water with each of these little meals

Snuffly snotty little one

Reuben has the snuffles. There are now 3 extra bedtime activities for us to do after his bath:

1. Deploy the snot extractor gadget
2. Spritz nostrils with saline spray
3. Administer vapour rub to chest and feet

Then sleep suit, sleeping bag, drink of milk, into cot, and Zzzzzzzz

The clocks go back but the baby doesn’t

So, the clocks go back on Sunday. In the past, this meant an extra hour in bed though this year I’m not so sure as I don’t know how to explain the concept of daylight saving hours and a lie-in to baby Reuben. Or anything else to do with sleeping and lie-ins.

Instead, this year, I might be up and awake at 2am (with the baby, not sipping cocktails in a bar…) so I can make the adjustments in real time.

Today’s Menu

I started to introduce Reuben to food textures and tastes at 22 weeks, now he is 26 weeks the weaning has stepped up a gear. We’re doing the Baby-led thing with food too. (See about).

So, today he ‘ate’ (well, ate, explored, tasted, dropped, etc.):
An early/3am breakfast of breast milk, then Wheatabix with (HIPP) milk and banana, and a mango finger for breakfast 2. This was soon followed by breast milk again for breakfast 3. 11-zz was homemade fish pie. And lunch was cashew nut butter and cream cheese on toast fingers and 3 blackberries. Then muesli, (HIPP) milk and stewed pears for tea, and a supper of breast milk. Lovely.

The food is organic where possible and he is offered a little amount of tap water along with meals.
